In today’s vast “progressive metal” genre, Vancouver Island’s The Body Politic beg to be different. And, as the lyrics of”Armature” (shown below) off of their new six song EP demand, they beg to be something more: beautiful. Clocking in at just under 25 minutes, Egressor offers a refreshing take on the progressive metal-core style, incorporating the free-flowing jazz influence of several members’ college background with atmospheric undertones that connect the vocals to the music seamlessly. Technical musicianship meets raw emotion in this unique six-piece that has quickly gained attention for its emphatic live performances, opening for popular metal bands such as Tesseract, Protest the Hero and Scale the Summit along the way.
