The Rogue Files: Interview with Leaving Eden

Tell us about your band.

Hi, I’m Eric Gynan, Cofounder of the Rock band Leaving Eden from New England USA.

Leaving Eden Lineup: Eve Lead Vocals, Alyssa Bailey White Keys and Vocals, Jake Gynan
Drums, Eric Gynan Guitars and Vocals, Rich Chouinard Bass and Vocals

What are you working on currently (album, tour, music video, etc.)?

Leaving Eden is about to release our 7th Album Titled: “Dream With Me” which is also the Title Track to be released world wide and distributed by Dark Star Records/Sony/Universal.

In this album we got the best of both worlds by recording in Leaving Eden’s studio, being able to take time and produce the album, then passing the ball on to Grammy Award Winning Engineer Johnny K. (Disturbed, Staind, Finger Eleven, 3 Doors Down, Megadeath, Sevendust, and many more) for Final Mix and Mastering is my dream scenario. He’s a genuine connoisseur of great music with so much talent, it’s such a pleasure to work with. Tracks from this album and other Leaving Eden albums will be featured in Massimiliano Cerchi’s movies: Painkiller, Mayday, Lockdown and Penthouse starring Michael Pare (The Philadelphia Experiment, Eddie and the Cruisers).

We are excited about this new album also, because the entire album and lots of tunes from our previous albums will also be featured in a new fake reality comedy movie titled The Nitwit.

Originally I had written The Nitwit movie script loosely based on real life events with the intention of having Leaving Eden’s music throughout the movie and procuring other pros to make the movie. While in Iowa after wrapping up on a shoot I sat down with Nitwit Movie Producer, Ray Van Blarcom and Actor, Matt Moody and he then brought in Actor, Jordan Smith as his costar, then Nitwit Movie Producer, Fran Huges joined the crew and the rest is history. We expect the movie to be released in 2020 by SGL Entertainment.

We will be touring Down south USA playing with BuckCherry at The Main Street Station Daytona Beach, Florida.

If you were asked to re-Score a movie, what movie would it be? Why?

That’s a real good question. How about Planes, Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin and John Candy. Love that movie and to put my own twist on it is cool.

What is the music scene like where you’re from?

We are in and around Boston, Massachusetts USA. New England. To me it is a great scene and always has been. There’s always new bands too. There’s many venues to play.

If you could tour with any band(s) (active or not) who would it be and why?

I would like to tour with Black Sabbath or Nickelback. Fleetwood Mac with Lindsey
Buckingham. These are all great artists and always pack the house.

Why do you do what you do? (re: making music)

Well I think all musicians are simply driven like any other occupation. If you’re a brick layer you’re driven to build your whole life. Our Tour Manager Bryant Jenkins, for instance has been in the union as a mason working in a city that never stops changing. He keeps on trucking through the cold winters and the hot summers building his creations in silence I say, because nobody will ever know who built those beautiful structures remaining long after he’s gone. (My tribute to Bryant). Me, I just got to record, perform, write, Produce, whatever I can do that’s involved with music. It’s in the soul, it’s in the DNA.

We are fans of comics, sci-fi, horror and wrestling. So tell us, what kind of nerd are you?

I guess it would be technical stuff. Recording engineering, Video/Movie directing/editing. Such a pleasure to chat here and peace!!
