When Wolves in the Throne Room announced a show at Delmar Hall, we couldn’t have been more ecstatic. Having wanted to see them for years, our time finally came, and it was everything we could have imagined. Pillorian, featuring members of Agalloch started the show with full force creating the most evil sound Delmar Hall has heard in its first year of operations. They brought their progressive black metal style of music to St. Louis and with the sound in the venue it sounded HUGE! It had been a few years since Agalloch strolled through at the Firebird and if you closed your eyes, you wouldn’t have known it wasn’t them on stage.
When Wolves finally were ready to take stage, it was pretty awesome to see them come out and cleanse the stage with sage before their performance commenced. As if it were possible for a band to sound so perfect, Wolves managed to pull it off. Their stage setup, which you can see in the photos, consisted of giant logs with hanging branches of pine, hard to describe otherwise but it looked epic as fuck! I am a little out of touch with writing, so I will just let my photos do the talking. Check out my photos below and feel free to share this link with any friends and family that might be fans of either band.
