Photo Album: Rodrigo y Gabriela, Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear @ The Pageant (St. Louis, MO)

Fans and followers of Damnation Magazine will note that site founder, Nick Licata, is an avid, passionate, and skilled photographer. Nearly every photo gallery that you see on this site is his. However, I myself also have some experience and interest in the same field. And under Nick’s guidance and supervision, I’ve also begun contributing my own event photos to Damnation, as well (belated, though they may be – as many of my posts can be). At any rate, one of the concerts that I was able to photograph was on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, when acoustic Latin guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela returned to St. Louis, MO. I was already familiar with the Mexicon pair’s talent prior to the show, listening to some of their releases while participating in college radio. This was my first time seeing them perform live however, which I had been wanting to do for several years. I was instantly hypnotized by the passion for their craft immediately displayed on stage with such technical virtuosity. Rodrigo y Gabriela’s love of metal music was always evident in their music, and even in their choice of pre-show songs played over the P.A., and covered two Metallica songs during their set. As if their performance couldn’t get any more engaging, toward the end of their set, a select number of fans were invited on stage to watch the rest of the show, and even kick around a soccer ball! The opening act was Kansas City, MO mother-son folk duo Madisen Ward and The Mama Bear, who had just released their debut album, Skeleton Crew, in May 2015. Please enjoy!
